Rahvyn had the best experience here….and so did I!! My first interaction was on the phone with Jessie who answered all of my questions and was very pleasant. My follow up call to schedule was with Jessie also and she made the process so easy. Today we went for our First Puppy Visit and it was a great experience. There was plenty of parking, the office was clean and inviting, and the check in process was so easy! We met Christine the VA who was amazing. She answered my questions clearly and was so loving toward Rahvyn. Next we met Dr. Sanford who was so caring and kind. She really listened to my questions and concerns then provided information in detail without judgment of my hesitations. This made me feel like I was getting the best care for my pup. She was also knowledgeable about the rescue where I got Rahvyn which made our spay conversation a good one. She provided me with solid explanations so that I could make an informed decision. Check out was easy. I failed to get the name of the kind woman who checked us out but she confirmed all the services verbally before giving me a total to ensure accuracy. She, like everyone else, was focused 100% on Rahvyn and myself. She made follow up appointments for me with ease. Something very noticeable to me was that none of the employees were on their cell phones or complaining. They were all present in what they were doing and really looked like they enjoyed the work they are doing. This is what will keep me coming back and referring to others! I rarely write reviews, but this office was amazing! Everyone was kind, patient, and present. Bonus…it was so clean!!

They've been our vet for over twenty years, I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. The moment you and your pet are greeted when you walk in the door you know you are being welcomed to a place where everyone thinks your pet is just as special as you do.

We've been going here for almost 11 years, and the doctors, techs, and front desk staff are simply the best. Dr. Sanford has been there for us through a lot of accute and ongoing issues with our dog, she is so supportive, caring, responsive, and knowledgeable. Krissy is also an amazing vet tech, who really works well with dogs that can be a little tougher to handle-like ours. We have also worked with many of the other vets/techs at the office and have always had excellent experiences with them all. Nassau vet offers a truly caring community and I always recommend them to everyone we know with pets ❤️

We've been taking our furry family members to Nassau Veterinary for many years and were a bit concerned when our very favorite vet there, Dr. Dietrich, semi-retired, performing surgeries only. After reading current staff bios we decided to bring our kitty Izzy to Dr. Haber - what a PERFECT choice this has been for us and especially Izzy! Dr. Haber is truly compassionate, caring, knowledgeable and explains everything very clearly. She is truly a great addition to Nassau's staff! oh, and Izzy gives four paws up🐱🐾🐾!!!!

This was our first time at Nassau Vet. We have a 13 year old rescue female dog in pretty good shape. The vet was very thorough and took her time in examining her for the first time. Explained everything to us and gave us pricing for everything they did. Very professional and friendly staff. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Our Services

Customized Pet Care

Boarding

From the green grass and sunshine in the huge play yard, to the spacious runs and cozy, comfy beds, Nassau Veterinary Clinic makes every effort to be a home away from home for your pet.

While you’re away, the same professionals you entrust with your pet’s medical needs can provide quality, safe boarding for your pet.

NVC’s boarding facilities are certainly impressive because of their attention to comfort. Indoor crates and runs are available as large as 11 feet by 4 feet!

These can accommodate larger, more active animals or even house siblings together. Cozy, smaller crates in quieter settings are available to appeal to the shyer animals that love to feel more secure.

The outside runs and play yard are available throughout the day for dogs who prefer spending more time outdoors.

Geriatric Care

Is your pet entering his or her golden years?

If so, it’s time to consider how your veterinarian can provide comprehensive preventative care and treatment for any conditions or issues that often come with age. The right geriatric care can help keep your pet happy and healthy for as long as possible.

Nassau Veterinary Clinic provides the full spectrum of geriatric veterinary care for dogs, cats, and other household pets, from semiannual examinations to behavior consultations to end-of-life care.

Established in 1937, we are one of the oldest animal hospitals in New York, and we are proud to offer gentle, effective veterinary care to patients of all shapes and sizes.

Microchipping

Nassau Veterinary Clinic knows firsthand the heartbreak caused when a pet is lost or stolen.

Each year, over 10 million pets in the U.S. are lost or stolen. Sad stories plague owners surrounding the sale, mistreatment, and abuses of some of these unlucky cats and dogs.

Fortunately, NVC can offer several ways that owners can permanently identify their pets for life, even if a collar has been lost.

Microchipping offers a safe and easy way to ensure your pet can be identified and returned to you, even if he or she is without a collar and ID tag.

Each microchip has a unique identification number, which can be scanned by an animal control officer, veterinarian, or shelter if a pet is lost or its ownership is in question. If the microchip is properly registered, it will bring up the information of the rightful owner.

Preventative Care

Preventative care is essential to the health of any pet. Just like you make routine trips to the doctor or dentist, so should your pet. Nassau Veterinary Clinic offers comprehensive preventative care for dogs, cats, pocket pets, and other small animals.

Our skilled veterinarians take pride in providing quality care in a friendly environment that helps your pet feel safe and comfortable.

Our preventative veterinary care begins with a thorough physical examination of your pet. This can help us get a better picture of your pet’s current condition based on every key body part and system.

We can combine the results of this exam with your pet’s medical history and any pre-existing conditions, your observations, and more, to create a fully customized medical plan for your pet.

Dentistry

Pets with periodontal disease or abscessed teeth have oral pain just as people do, although by nature they may not show pain as people do. What’s more, current research shows that pets with a dental infection have higher rates of kidney, liver, heart, and lung disease. This statistic is extremely important to the well-being of your pet. Why?

Because bacteria from your pet’s mouth can travel throughout the body, lodging in these organs causing serious symptoms and diseases.

Nassau Veterinary Clinic’s approach to dental care in pets is directed at preventing infection and pain. Dental exams and recommendations are routinely done with your pet’s annual physical exam.

If you suspect your pet is having trouble eating, has pain in the mouth or face, drools, or has bad breath, be sure to call it to the attention of your veterinarian.

Grooming

Nassau Veterinary Clinic is happy to offer high-quality, gentle pet grooming services to dogs and cats.

Our Pampered Paws Grooming team can help make your pet look and feel wonderful, and we can even address pesky issues like fleas, ticks, or intestinal parasites.

Because we are also an animal hospital, you can trust that our trained professionals can address your pet’s every need.

Surgery

Surgery offers an effective form of treatment for certain serious injuries and medical conditions, but any procedure can present risks. If your pet needs surgery, you want to choose a veterinarian you can trust.

At Nassau Veterinary Clinic, we provide the highest standard of surgical services, from standard neutering or spaying to complex, advanced procedures.

We do it all in a friendly environment where you and your pet can feel safe and supported.

Pet Training

Nassau Veterinary Clinic is committed to helping owners keep happy, well-mannered pets in order to keep them in loving homes and out of shelters.

Fun, positive training classes are a great way to build great habits and create healthier bonds between dogs and their owners.

Through programs like Puppy Parties, training classes, behavior counseling, and the Responsible Pet Owner Program, NVC supports owners in their pursuit of an appropriate relationship with their dogs, and realistic expectations for their dog’s behavior.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is an important part of veterinary medicine. It helps us diagnose and sometimes even treat “invisible” conditions by looking “inside” the patient in detail. Ultrasound, as the name implies, uses sound waves.

Properly diagnosing your pet’s condition is the first step to promoting his or her overall health and well-being.

As Nassau veterinarians with considerable training and experience in ultrasound technology, as well as specialties such as geriatric care, cancer treatment, and more, we can find out what’s going on and offer our insight regarding treatment options.

We believe in educating pet owners so they can make the right choices about their loved ones.

Flea & Tick Prevention

Protect your pet and family from flea and tick infestations, dermatitis secondary to allergies, and serious, sometimes fatal, infectious diseases that can be transmitted by them.

Fleas and ticks are easy to prevent, and we can help. Each of our products are medically approved, safe, and guaranteed to help protect your family.

Laboratory

Nassau Veterinary Clinic offers its patients the speed and convenience of a state-of-the-art, in-house laboratory. Many tests can be run quickly, giving the veterinarian valuable information during the course of an appointment. Instead of waiting around for test results, you can get the answers you need.

Our in-house laboratory is just one of the ways Nassau Veterinary Clinic fulfills our commitment to creating happier, healthier relationships between pets and people.

If you want to schedule a routine appointment, have an aging pet in need of geriatric care, or have any other veterinary needs, you can count on our staff to provide competent service in a caring, friendly environment.

Outpatient Services

At Nassau Veterinary Clinic, we provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient veterinary care.

Our outpatient services continue to be the backbone of our clinic, and as such, we strive to provide a variety of office hours, early or late drop off times, and night and weekend hours to better serve pet owners.

We realize that routine checkups, preventative care, vaccinations, and medical care of well, sick, or injured pets must be convenient and timely for owners.

A full staff of veterinarians, licensed technicians, assistants, training and behavior experts, and groomers are regularly available at Nassau Veterinary Clinic for our clients’ convenience.

We believe this is of the utmost importance to support owners as they strive to ensure that their pets receive care when they need it.

Radiology & EKG

Radiographs (x-rays) and electrocardiograms (ECGs or EKGs) are essential diagnostic tools for our Nassau veterinarians.

With our in-house laboratory and experienced veterinarians and veterinary technicians, we at Nassau Veterinary Clinic can provide the complete diagnostic care that your pet needs.

From preventative and wellness care to wound treatment and surgery, we provide quality veterinary care in a friendly environment that promotes your pet’s comfort.
